2008 Tournament Summary
The 2008 Hume-Donovan Wiffle Ball Tournament was another great success. And for the first time ever,
a complete AND TRUE set of statistics (as far as you know) were kept for every game. 2008 also saw the crowning of another
new Champion! In fact, the 2007 B.W.O.S. participants became the 2008
Champions and Runners-Up.
There have been five different Champions of
the last five HD Wiffle Ball Tournaments, but up until 2008 none of the previous Champions can claim a worst to
first rise to glory. Enter the Wiffle Ballers. Once mocked for their youth, inexperience, and homework, the 2008
group formerly known as the "Pioneers" renamed, reorganized and redeemed with authority. One foot growth spurts in the
offseason didn't hurt their cause either.
Suddenly the youth are seen as a perenniel
threat. To counter the shift in power, will the aged commanders of opposing teams seek younger recruits for 2009, or
will they simply invoke well-timed groundings, chores, and/or age-related rule changes to eliminate the threat altogether.
Time will tell.
