2009 Tournament Summary

The 2009 Hume-Donovan Wiffle Ball Tournament rocked yet again. A pig was roasted on the field. We
even cooked a hog.
The former champion Wiffle Ballers were absent, but a new team - The
Killer B's made their debut. Two traditional powers (The Homeboys and F'Donovans) toppled while two
old ones (The Jolly Wifflers and the On-Calls) re-emerged. And another new Champion - The Pride of the Whifflers - was crowned!
This makes the sixth different team to have won a Championship over the past 6 tournaments.
For two years straight The Pride maintained
one of the best records in tournament play - a result of their defensive prowess and sometimes controversial speed and sobriety.
But they were denied a pass to post-season play for glory by teams much more offensive in nature such as the F'Donovans, or
the Wiffle Ballers. But a simple off-season adjustment changed everything - the addition of John Ricci-Bobby. John helped The Pride redefine the term "offensive" in 2009. By igniting the return of the storied
"Whifflers Row", The Pride laid waste to all who dared challenge them, including the stubborn Jolly's whom The Pride
dispatched twice to claim Wiffle Gold and Honor.
A great time was had by all. To view stats, game summaries, awards, and results,

PITCHING AND MVP AWARDS DISQUALIFICATIONS
Roscoe Sopiwnik easily produced stats to earn
him both the 2009 Pitching and MVP Awards. However, photographic evidence provided by an unknown source cleary shows
Mr. Sopiwnik holding, and later consuming a WINE COOLER sometime during the tournament. Tournament officials
had no choice but to strip him of these awards. Sanctions were considered against the POTWs, but Captain Granley swiftly
chugged a Budweiser and crushed it against his head. Pride was immediately restored in the Pride.
